Pray about everything
I think most of us think that prayer is only for certain types of issues and needs and we should not bother God with the other details of our lives. But God wants to hear from us, about everything!
It is easy to think that we can seperate our secular life from our faith walk, but they are entwined and one effects the other. If we do not seek God's will in all that we do, we will find that we have made less than satisfactoy decisions that effects all aspects of our life.
Prayer is a powerful tool for helping us manage our business or our employment. This is where we live our Christian life in witness to the world.
Too often we fall back on three things:
My competence: I know what needs to be done
My experience: I've done it this way before
My determination: I've always been willful about the things I really want
"It does not depend on might or power, but my Spirit (Zechariah 4:6 excerpts)
What is you first disposition? To pray?, or fall back on what you know, or to try to substiute your disposition into your prayer (control the outcome).
Try applying prayer this way:
Make a list of all the things you really want but have been relying on your own competence to achieve. Now pray daily and ask God 's guidance for your needs. Be sure to say "Thank You" for prayers answered.
And most of all, be realistic, by reducing your needs, your needs list will instantly be more complete and you will be more satisfied.
