Pray about everything

I think most of us think that prayer is only for certain types of issues and needs and we should not bother God with the other details of our lives. But God wants to hear from us, about everything!

It is easy to think that we can seperate our secular life from our faith walk, but they are entwined and one effects the other. If we do not seek God's will in all that we do, we will find that we have made less than satisfactoy decisions that effects all aspects of our life.

Prayer is a powerful tool for helping us manage our business or our employment. This is where we live our Christian life in witness to the world.

Too often we fall back on three things:

My competence: I know what needs to be done
My experience: I've done it this way before
My determination: I've always been willful about the things I really want

"It does not depend on might or power, but my Spirit (Zechariah 4:6 excerpts)

What is you first disposition? To pray?, or fall back on what you know, or to try to substiute your disposition into your prayer (control the outcome).

Try applying prayer this way:

Make a list of all the things you really want but have been relying on your own competence to achieve. Now pray daily and ask God 's guidance for your needs. Be sure to say "Thank You" for prayers answered.

And most of all, be realistic, by reducing your needs, your needs list will instantly be more complete and you will be more satisfied.

Open My Eye's Lord

Open my eyes,Lord

I want to see Jesus.

To reach out and touch Him

To show Him I love Him

Open my ears,Lord

And help me to listen

Open my eyes, Lord

I want to see Jesus

Sometimes I feel like Blind Bartemaeus. I know that God is trying to show me something and I can't see it. He leaves me with an uncomfortable feeling, an uneasy feeling that something is not complete, something is lacking.

Time passes and I search of the missing link, trying to find out what I think is missing, looking for a big answer. In God's time He reveals to me what I have been seeking, usually just after I have slowed my persuit of the answer.

Could I be looking in the wrong place? Am I not hearing God? Surprising to me, my answer is much closer to home, to my family, and my church family that I would have anticipated.

So I spent my time searching the world for what God reveals to me to be so close to me. Why must I make this so hard?

Open my eyes Lord, let me see Jesus

God Week

This has been an amazing week. A day spent at camp with our Sr Hi Youth was very encouraging. Our youth are so mature. so connected to Christ. It's an honor to be in thier presence. I can't wait to hear thier camp stories and see them in ministry after thier camping experience.

A big thank you to all of the adults who made it possible for the youth to be there. I know that your work was a joy!

On Thursday I traveled to Nashville Tenn for Men's Conference. I arrived in "Methodist Mecca" as the locals lovingly refer to our global headquaters. There is a reverence about this place that is hard to describe.

My conference was 3 long days and nights of training and interaction on building Spiritual Fathers, not UMM members, not just disciples, but men who are in Pursit of God, bringing people to Christ, and have many spiritual children and grandchildren. This is how the church must reproduce and continue to bring people to Christ who have the ability to disciple others and bring them to Spiritual maturity.

I have attended three events this year, where I expected to meet my God and Jesus. All three events turned out to be encounters that exceed my possible expectations.

Can you imagine an extended period of time in God's presence, nothing being said but knowing that you are in the Father's arms.?

I can't wait to bring my experiences home and share with you. I don't know how to describle what will be next, but it will be BIG! Praise God!

Brothers of Integrity

Psalm 101

A psalm of David

1 I will sing of your love and justice, LORD. I will praise you with songs
2 I will be careful to live a blameless life— when will you come to help me?
I will lead a life of integrity in my own home.
3 I will refuse to look at anything vile and vulgar.I hate all who deal crookedly;
I will have nothing to do with them.
4 I will reject perverse ideas and stay away from every evil.
5 I will not tolerate people who slander their neighbors. I will not endure conceit and pride
6 I will search for faithful people to be my companions.Only those who are above reproach will be allowed to serve me.
7 I will not allow deceivers to serve in my house, and liars will not stay in my presence.
8 My daily task will be to ferret out the wicked and free the city of the LORD from their grip.

Men are called to live a Godly life, to be accountable, to live with integrity. We must look to God, our Eternal Father for the male image that we must live by. Jesus was the ultimate Father image on earth and taught us exactly what He expects from us..

It is a hard job, society pushes against us constantly and the devil tries to draw us away from God.

The rewards are plentiful, and with so many people looking for a Man of Integrity as thier role model,we quickly see those around us growing in the Likeness of Christ.

Keep the standards high, no less than Jesus would expect . Live as Brothers of Integrity

A Great day of sharing

Sunday was a great day of celebrating relationships and reminding me of the value of friends and family.

Sunday school brought some new faces, lots of fun and activity, and a reminder of how our relationship with our children helps us to minister to them, gaining thier trust through the relationship we nurture. We have the privildge of getting to know these new children more closely so we can fully share God's love with them. What a blessing!.

The day continued with time with special friends, the agenda, being together, just time to be with each other and get to know and grow our relationships, all in the love of Christ. It was a special time.

The evening (long day) brought family together for a meal and a deeper sharing of family events, faiths, we grew closer together than ever before.

Sunday was an excetional day of unending blessings from God.

Here is an article about reltionships and society going in the wrong direction

Americans' circle of close friends shrinking
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Americans are more socially isolated than they were 20 years ago, separated by work, commuting and the single life, researchers reported on Friday.

Nearly a quarter of people surveyed said they had "zero" close friends with whom to discuss personal matters. More than 50 percent named two or fewer confidants, most often immediate family members, the researchers said.

"This is a big social change, and it indicates something that's not good for our society," said Duke University Professor Lynn Smith-Lovin, lead author on the study to be published in the American Sociological Review.

Smith-Lovin's group used data from a national survey of 1,500 American adults that has been ongoing since 1972.

She said it indicated people had a surprising drop in the number of close friends since 1985. At that time, Americans most commonly said they had three close friends whom they had known for a long time, saw often, and with whom they shared a number of interests.

They were almost as likely to name four or five friends, and the relationships often sprang from their neighborhoods or communities.

Ties to a close network of friends create a social safety net that is good for society, and for the individual. Research has linked social support and civic participation to a longer life, Smith-Lovin said.

People were not asked why they had fewer intimate ties, but Smith-Lovin said that part of the cause could be that Americans are working more, marrying later, having fewer children, and commuting longer distances.

The data also show the social isolation trend mirrors other class divides: Non-whites and people with less education tend to have smaller social networks than white Americans and the highly educated.

That means that in daily life, personal emergencies and national disasters like Hurricane Katrina, those with the fewest resources also have the fewest personal friends to call for advice and assistance.

"It's one thing to know someone and exchange e-mails with them. It's another thing to say, 'Will you give me a ride out of town with all of my possessions and pets? And can I stay with you for a couple or three months?" Smith-Lovin said.

"Worrying about social isolation is not a matter of nostalgia for a warm and cuddly past. Real things are strongly connected with that," added Harvard University Public Policy Professor Robert Putnam, author of "Bowling Alone," a book on the decline of American community.

He suggested flexible work schedules would allow Americans to tend both personal and professional lives.

Christ calls us to be in realtionship with each other, the Body of Christ. Sunday was a good reminder to slow down and spend time on relationships.

Men need Brothers, Women need Sisters. We neeed each other

Tired of the Battle

Then said Hezekiah to Isaiah, The word of the Lord which you have spoken is good.' For he thought, Why not, if there will be peace and security in my days?'" 2 Kings 20:19

You can easily tire of the battle and quit, refusing to finish the race of life strong. This is one of the reasons "the last shall be first and the first last." Given opportunity to labor long in His vineyard, you weary and quit before finishing time. God calls some to run the hundred-yard dash. If God has called you to run a marathon, don't quit before the finish line. Don't mentally disengage from the battle and leave the problems to others. excerpt from Thoughts of the Diary of a Desperate man.

Building Brothers will take time/ What a great Band of Brothers we are blessed with ! I will not ask for more patience, I did that once and got more trials to help me build patience. Everything will be in God's time

Dadfest

Sunday was Dadfest. A video and message about Fatherhood, some motorcycles and some food. It was not bad for a first attempt at recognizing Fathers on Fathers Day. I really appreciate my Brothers and thier support putting it together. They are always there ready to serve

I expected to have more of a feeling of accomplsihment as we completed the day. Quite the contrary, seeing several Mom's in tears and getting some good feedback has feft me feeling helpless, that there is so much to do, so many people that are hurting, so much need just within our congregation. What can the world look like?

One Mom went home and called her adult children and scolded them for not recognizing thier Father.

I pray that God will continue to grow our Men's Ministry and put us to work, serving and being the Christ like role models that we know we can be.
